Wisdom of Three: the Importance of Self

I know, I know. We've already touched on the three core aspects of the Triple Circle in the very first edition of Wisdom of Three! You are saying. But, I'm telling you, there are reasons to touch back on these founding principles. The Triple Circle, for one, is probably the most recognizable of the triplicates many representations in esoteric and spiritual culture. I consider this particular set up one of the founding principles of the triple circle, because so many other theories expound on this simple concept.

In Christianity and sometimes in other religions, the triple circle is called the Tripartite. It is not to be confused with the Triquetra, which is the Gaelic/Celtic triple circle, or the Celtic Knot, another Gaelic/Celtic symbol (both also look quite different). All three of these symbols, interestingly enough, actually relate to the same premise of Mind, Body, and Spirit, as well as some other complex relationships the ancient Gaelic model of the universe. There is a high likelihood I will make a blog entry discussing the connection between these three symbols later on!

The Self is your soul's tether to the real world. This tether is expressed in a lot of different ways, from our personality, to our dreams. It is also the gateway through which your soul enters the world, and begins to form its own vision of itself, separate from the more unified energy of the realm beyond the circles (the void, heaven/hell, the immaterial realm, the fifth dimension, ect.), and what we perceive as "real."

The Self is separate from your physical body. Because of my spiritual belief system, which is rooted in Celtic and Norse religious structure blended with a bit of witchery, I personally perceive the Self as a mix of the four elements and the various cosmic energies most present during the time of your birth. This mix defines who you are. For each person, it is incredibly complex and individual, but also intentional.

The Three Norn, which are represented most clearly the in the Triple Spiral (at least I feel, anyway), are said in Norse lore to be three Giantess witches who weave the thread of fate at the foot of the World Tree, Yggdrasil. Using this imagery, we are all composed of a blend of fibers that are being intricately woven and dyed just before being fed into the loom of life, taking a very intentional place among the picture of the whole. The Self is the place where that thread, woven and intentionally placed by the Giantesses, appears first in the real world.

Like the number one in tarot and numerology, this first circle is where the spark of inspiration for what actually is becomes formed, like an idea or plan. It is only when we truly know who we are within our Self that we are able to shape our physical selves and world into one that is reflective of a balanced inner Self. While the modern world might distract us from this truth with the influx of things it insists we need or want, it is truly up to ourselves to decide. If we don't, we will be unable to find our center, and always feel as if we are being pulled from place to place by outside sources. Maintaining a healthy and strong Self allows us to create changes in our physical world that are both long term and for our overall benefit, not just those that are comfortable, easy, or accommodating to the situations we are presented

The wholeness and wellness of the Self is reflected throughout all layers of the triple circle, especially in Spirit. When we have aligned all aspects of ourselves to be true to the most beneficial and honest image of our Self, it is easier to find a peaceful place in the world around us. We are aware of and accept our role in our communities, and overall life trajectory. We have faith enough in our Self that, should those roles every suddenly shift or change direction, for any reason, or any way, that we will be able to persevere and maneuver through whatever life throws at us. We also find ourselves able to set and maintain firm, healthy boundaries, allowing us to hone our closest relationships down to just those that serve our happiness and fulfillment in a mutual and loving way.

Others around those with a centered Self are often presented with the opportunity to advance their own ability to find Self, as well. This works in a number of ways, primarily through energetic vibration. Those who are unwilling to evolve their own sense of Self to not feel threatened by your own will step away from your strengthened spirit (through loss, hopefully learning a lesson, though that is certainly not up to us to worry about). Others who also desire to find their own center in a similar way to which you have will begin to see you, not only as a role model, but as a source of inner strength and wisdom for their particular path. If the connection is healthy, your higher vibration and assistance will allow them to slowly raise their own vibration (if they are doing the inner work necessary to find the same balance you have, of course), without draining or taxing you. In fact, this energetic exchange, when positive and reciprocal, feels absolutely amazing!

Grounding and meditation are such incredibly important spiritual practices for so many reasons, but for the sake of today's discussion, they are important because they allow us to connect to our inner Self. As you've just read, this connection is pivotal to finding ultimate balance and happiness in life for so many reasons!

Affirmation:

I know and honor my Self.
