Wisdom of Three: the Triple Circle, Grounding, and Meditation

Does the triple circle have no end in it's usefulness? You might be asking at this point, because I remember that I certainly did at one point. And, the answer is, it likely does, but it is not one I have discovered yet. Maybe we will reach that point together!

Today's Wisdom of Three discusses the triple circle and it's correlation and usefulness in the practice of grounding and meditation. As someone who suffers from anxiety attacks, grounding is literally a life saver for me. Meditation helps make grounding (which, let's be honest, is not always possible - while driving, for instance!) less necessary in your day to day life. If it's not part of your spiritual practice, especially if you are an empath or highly sensitive person, you need to start ground and meditation practices yesterday! Thank goodness you found this blog, right?

Grounding and meditation both start in the center circle. This is because we have to connect with ourselves, and clear our thoughts, in order to initiate the mental processes necessary to move into the next stages of both practices that will yield these highly desirable results: peace of mind, relief from stress, and a deepened connection with the universal energy. Because each of us are a very integral part of the universal energy, this facet of grounding is probably the most important and healing! This is because it allows us to connect with our intentional purpose in the presence of everything, even if only subconsciously (or on a vibrational level).

Rubbing your feet a bit before you start is a good extra step to take, but just sitting on the ground, preferably outside (somewhere safe, of course, but also quiet), is the most pivotal first step to both grounding and meditation. I recommend taking off your shoes, if you can. The next part is up to you. Some people use a focal item, like a flame, crystal, or nearby object, in order to clear their minds. I close my eyes, and let my thoughts come in, acknowledging but not attaching to them to greatly, before I let them drift out. The entire while, I ask my mind to quiet. Eventually, it does. Everyone clears their mind differently. There are probably thousands of articles written by others on this topic, so I'm not going to delve too deeply into it! If you need to, research a way that calls to you. I recommend just doing whatever comes most naturally, and that feels "right."

Just learning to clear your mind can take many attempts. Don't get discouraged! We live in a world that constantly stimulates our thoughts. Learning to undo that conditioning is no easy task. Acknowledge and reward yourself, even with failed attempts, for simply sitting down and taking the time to gain mastery of your mind. You can do this. The universe and I believe in you!

In your now cleared mind space, once you get to it, it is time to envision a spinning ring of light blooming into life, filling the empty space in your mind. For me, I first envision a white light, spinning counterclockwise to cleanse the energies in my mind. I then envision a golden light, spinning clockwise (and entwining with the silver light), which fills my mind space with divine resonance. However you envision the circle is up to you. All that really matters is the circle itself.

If you know how to connect to and envision your active aura field (if you would like an article on this, please just let me know in the comments below), it is a worthwhile step to allow that color to fill the circle during this step. Any discoloration or oddities in the aura field during this stage are likely to reveal blockages in the root, sacral, or crown chakras. Sometimes these discolorations reveal negative energies that we need to release through grounding, and so this could actually prove to be a strong motivator to continue grounding and meditation work (it certainly is for me). A weak, flickering, or distorted aura is indicative of a weak mental state. Do not stop to write down or record this information at this time. Maintain your focus on the movement of the circles, and the color of your aura, before moving on towards the next circle.

Imagine the circle expanding around your body, just far enough out that it does not touch your form, as if it is expanding or stepping out of your mind's eye into the real world. The bottom of the circle should be moving just below your root chakra or buttocks, with the top spinning several inches over your head. Take a moment to allow yourself to really let yourself see this stage, especially if you are using your aura. Any discolorations or oddities in your aura field during this stage might indicate a health issue. While it is never my recommendation to go to a doctor with, "my aura says I'm sick," as a symptom, it may not hurt during these times to either have a check-up, or simply monitor your health for a while in relation to the energy disturbance. It could also indicate that you are storing stress or some other detrimental energy in your body in these areas, that can be released to the universe during the next stage.

Now, imagine the circle getting even larger, so that there is a good amount of space between your body and the circle. The circle should maintain its overall center-point, with the bottom of it whirling just beneath your root chakra, and the top now quite a bit over your head. Allow the circle to grow to the size it wants, not the size you think it should be, and then maintain that shape. An irregular or erratic circle at this time indicates that your aura, or soul, is in strong disarray, while a "perfect" circle is indicative of spiritual balance and health. Continuing to work with meditation and grounding should eventually ease a lot of the issues with the irregularities, but I also recommend doing a lot of inner work, if you make it here and discover this to be the case.

Warping or an aura that seems flimsy is indicative of a soul that is not aligned with its universal purpose, or that is carrying too many wounds to healthily sustain itself. While meditation can help with the first problem, the second issue is much more complex. If you have continued to use the color of your aura up until now, any discolorations or irregularities that you notice at this time may be indicative of spiritual wounds or flawed core beliefs that need to be healed or restructured. While some of this can be released to the universe, it is my personal experience that much of the damage in this region is the sort that only we can take intentional steps to fix. Please see Wisdom of Three: Breaking Trauma Loops to learn more about how to use the triple circle to identify and heal wounds of the soul or spirit.

Grounding and meditation differ in the final steps.

To ground, give your mind time to really focus on maintain the image of the spirit circle. Once this image has solidified, envision small roots of the light energy to pool out from your root chakra, down into the earth. Allow them to reach down through a cool, dark space, imagining them to be reaching deeper and deeper into the heart of the planet. At the center of this mother energy, envision a bright, golden orb of light. Continue to reach your roots further and further down from the circle in which you are contained, until the roots connect with this golden source. Allow the light of the source to flow up through your roots, and, when it reaches your circle, envision the golden light purging and clearing all the discolorations and unwanted energy in your spirit or soul. You can stay connected here until you feel like it is comfortable and good to retract your roots. Envision them slowly rising up, and reconnecting with your energetic circle. Take a moment to notice how much stronger or clearer your energy is, before allowing the circle to slowly fade out of your mind's notice. Do not break or damage the circle. Simply let it fade out of your conscious awareness.

To meditate, simply maintain your focus on this third circle, until you are confident you can envision and maintain it. Ground. Then, while still connected to the mother energy, turn your focus onto whatever you would like to meditate on. Sometimes, this involves looking into ourselves, while for other questions, it involves looking out into the world, or the greater universe. While in this connected, higher thought process, we can seek deeper truths, while always remaining grounded to reality, and our physical form, through our tether to the earth. I recommend beginning wherever you noticed the most issues in your aura or while forming the circles. These likely indicate your most troublesome or "big" problems.

Astral projection is the act of travelling with this protective circle away from your body. The tether, for projection, especially, is incredibly important, because, without it, the soul can become very lost, unable to find its body, or confused. For this reason, astral projection, at least in the waking world, is not something I would suggest to those who have not been grounding and meditating on a regular basis for many years.
